Frank Albert Ferren Jr., 78, of Kailua-Kona died June 17 at home. Born in Boston, he was a general surgeon and obstetrician specializing in sports medicine, 19-time Hawaii Ironman Championships competitor, Ultraman and Lavaman competitor, paddler with Kai O Pua Canoe Club and a U.S. Air Force veteran. Celebration of life at a later date. Survived by wife, Annie Ferren of Kailua-Kona; sons, Bradley (Keahi Mills) Ferren of Kailua-Kona and Gregory (Jenne) Ferren of Honolulu; daughters, Richann Ferren of Kailua-Kona and Noelani (Aaron) Boyd of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; sister, Virginia (Robert) Bowman of Connecticut; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Morris “Dedea” Kuamo‘o, 71, of Hilo died June 26 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired construction laborer for numerous companies and former longshore fisherman for numerous Okinawan boats on Oahu. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Saturday (July 8) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hilo Stake Center, 1373 Kilauea Ave. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Aloha attire. Survived by wife, Esther Kuamo‘o of Hilo; children, Wilson Gomes, Kris (Mitchell) Kuamo‘o-Santa Maria, Morris (Staycie Souza) Kuamo‘o and Tina (Shane) Mendiola of Hilo and Estee Tabangcora of Waimea; brother, Lawrence Kuamo‘o Sr. of Waianae, Oahu; sisters, Mary “Paahana” Mukai of Hilo and Leilani (Lacy) McCallister of Los Angeles; seven grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gabriel “Gabe” Moniz Jr., 76, of Hilo died June 22 at home. Born in Pepeekeo, he was a retired emergency medical technician and ambulance driver with the former Hilo Hospital, retired sergeant with the Hawaii Army National Guard and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Friends may call 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday (July 5) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass at 10 a.m. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. Thursday (July 6) at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 for graveside committal services. Casual attire. Stanley Masao Okinishi, 80, of Hilo died May 28 at home. Born in Pahala, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran, retired mason for Constructors Hawaii, S.K. Oda Contracting and M. Sonomura Contracting and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ainaola Ward. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Friday (July 7) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hilo Stake Center, 1373 Kilauea Ave. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Monica Caoagas Pacris, 97, of Hilo died June 17 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Cagayan Valley, the Philippines, she was a substitute caregiver for Gacula Care Home and a member of First United Protestant Church in Hilo. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (July 8) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua Section. Casual attire; flowers welcome.
